El juego fue en un primer momento no muy popular en los Estados Unidos de América. Esto hizo que los casinos en varias cosas, como tratando de ofrecer una recompensa en caso de pagar diez a uno, si el jugador tenía un Jack Black Jack "negro" y un as de espadas. La toma puede ser ni a los clubes o picas. Después de que el juego se fue muy querido, el pago del bono rápidamente desapareció del juego.

Cualquier mano que alcanza un total de veintiún años se considera un ganador. El total no debería ser superior a veintiuno, si es que la mano se dice que es "busto." El objetivo de cualquier jugador es el mejor casino. Si tanto el jugador y el casino tienen el mismo valor de la mano, se llama "push" (empate), no con el jugador o el crupier gana la mano.
